Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and kit for multiplex analysis of rapidly mutating Y-chromosome short tandem repeats (RM-YSTRs) and more specifically, but not exclusively, to the analysis of multiple RM-YSTRs at specific loci on the Y-chromosome. In accordance with a first aspect of the invention there is provided a method for detecting the presence of multiple rapidly mutating Y-chromosome short tandem repeats (RM Y-STRs) in a sample including providing the sample containing DNA, providing 27 primer pairs developed to bind to the RM Y-STRs at 25 loci in the sample, performing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to co-amplify the RM Y-STRs in the sample, and comparing the PCR products with reference values representative of different RM Y-STRs to determine the RM Y-STRs present in the sample.
