The invention relates to a rotary handle (3) for an operating device (2), in particular for an operating device (2) of a household appliance (1), comprising a central connection element (28) for retaining the rotary handle (3) on a surface (8) of the operating device (2), wherein the connection element (20, 21, 24) is arranged in the region of an axis of the rotary handle (3), which functions as the axis of rotation (14) when the rotary handle (3) is used as intended; and also comprising a permanent magnet arrangement (16), which is located in an annular region (15) surrounding the axis of rotation (14) of the rotary handle (3) and is designed to provide a permanent magnetic field at least in an annular space (17) that includes the annular region (15) and extends parallel to the axis of rotation (3) at least as far as the surface (8). According to the invention, the permanent magnet arrangement (16) has an annularly shaped first permanent magnet (22) and is designed to provide the permanent magnetic field with magnetic flux densities that are different in the circumferential direction about the axis of rotation (14).
