Zusammenfassung:	A loom and a control method therefor that prevent sudden fall of a heald frame are provided. A loom according to an embodiment includes a heald frame, a driving portion configured to move the heald frame up and down, a power supply circuit configured to supply power to the driving portion, a switch circuit connected between a plurality of wires transferring the power from the power supply circuit to the driving portion and configured to short-circuit the wires to each other or open the wires in accordance with a control signal, and a control circuit configured to supply the control signal to the switch circuit to control the switch circuit. After cut-off of power supply from the power supply circuit to the driving portion, the switch circuit holds a short-circuit state or an open state based on the last control signal received before the cut-off of power supply.
