Zusammenfassung:	The present inventive concept relates to a lighting system and a method (20) for estimating an actual light profile -- more specifically a prior photic memory, prior light history, photostasis state, or past light exposures -- for an individual. The method (20) comprises: exposing (S200) the individual to a predetermined light stimuli using a lighting system; sensing (S202) a body response, such as a melatonin level, of the individual in response to the predetermined light stimuli; and estimating (S204) the actual light profile based on the sensed body response of the individual and the predetermined light stimuli.
