Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for actuating a modular multilevel converter (1) having at least one electrical series connection (35) of modules (1_1, 1_2, 1_3, 1_4 ... 1_n), each module having at least two electronic switching elements (202, 206) and an electrical energy store (210). Desired voltage values (uC1) for the series connection (35) are determined by means of a controller (410). Switching signals (S) for the switching elements (202, 206) of the modules of the series connection (35) are determined by means of a switching element control (413) based on the desired voltage values (uC1). The controller (410) and the switching element control (413) are carried out by a programmable single-chip processor system (417).
