The method comprises the step of administering to the subject an effective amount of a recombinant vaccinia virus in which the coding sequence for the extracellular virion protein F13 has been replaced with the coding sequence for MC021, a molluscum contagiosum virus homolog of F13, wherein the recombinant vaccinia virus comprises a nucleic acid encoding an immunogenic epitope of the antigen.
