Zusammenfassung:A method of releasing chemically bound hydrogen from a carrier material comprises heating at least partly hydrogen-laden carrier material (LOHC-H) by means of a heating unit (7), feeding the heated carrier material (LOHC-H) into a reaction region (3), catalytically releasing the chemically bound hydrogen by contacting the carrier material (LOHC-H) with a catalyst material (4) in the reaction region (3), and removing a mixture from the reaction region (3), wherein the mixture at least partly includes carrier material (LOHC-H, LOHC-D) as liquid stream and a released hydrogen gas.
