Zusammenfassung:This invention provides a process for the preparation of orthogonally protected ribose derivative. Which are further used as donor for the synthesis of N4-hydroxy cytidine and its derivatives by using commercially available materials under very mild reaction condition and short period of time. Thereafter N-hydroxylation of cytidine can be achieved in a short period of time. The intermediates or the final compounds thus obtained can be used for the treatment of viral infections.
