The housing (17) comprises a first housing part (19) defining a first portion of the outer surface of the aerosol-generating device (3) and a second housing part (21) defining a second portion of the outer surface of the aerosol-generating device (3). The first housing part (19) comprises a first mechanical engagement feature (53). The second housing part (21) comprises a second mechanical engagement feature (51). The first mechanical engagement feature (53) and the second mechanical engagement feature (51) operate together to hold the first housing part (19) and the second housing part (21) in place with respect to each other. The first housing part (19) and the second housing part (21) are connected to each other by an adhesive.
