Light-emitting depilation device (1) includes light source (10), skin cooling unit (20) that cools skin, and push switch (30) including pressing unit (32) that surrounds an outer periphery of light source (10) and skin cooling unit (20). When pressing unit (32) is not being pressed, pressing unit (32) is protruding from a surface of skin cooling unit (20), the surface being a surface that is to be brought into contact with the skin, toward an opposite side of light source (10) with respect to skin cooling unit (20). Upon being pressed, a surface of pressing unit (32) pressed by the skin moves closer to light source (10) with respect to skin cooling unit (20). Push switch (30) switches to cause light source (10) to emit and not to emit light in such a manner that light is emitted from light source (10) at least for a part of the time while pressing unit (32) is pressed, and light is not emitted from light source (10) while pressing unit (32) is not pressed.
