Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to transmitter for transmitting a message to a receiver, wherein comprises a detector unit for monitoring the output signal of the transmitter and a control unit, which is configured to derive an average signal of selected section of the output signal and to detect a fault on a signal line between the transmitter and the receiver based on the average signal. The present invention also relates to a method for the transmitter.
