An electronic device and an operation method of an electronic device, according to various embodiments, are provided. The electronic device comprises: a communication circuit for transmitting or receiving data through communication using an ultra-wideband (UWB); and a processor, wherein the processor may be configured to: check a parameter for measuring a location of an external electronic device while establishing the communication for measuring the location of the external electronic device; operate in a first location determination mode for determining, on the basis of the parameter, a location of the external electronic device on the basis of first signals exchanged between the external electronic device and the electronic device; in response to determining the location of the external electronic device, switch to a second location determination mode for determining a location of the external electronic device on the basis of a second signal transmitted by the external electronic device; and in response to satisfying a specified condition related to the location of the external electronic device, switch from the second location determination mode to the first location determination mode.
