A FILTERING METHOD OF FILTERING MEASURED VALUES OF A MEASURAND AND A METHOD OF USING THIS FILTERING METHOD IN A METHOD OF DETERMINING AND PROVIDING A MEASUREMENT RESULT OF A MEASURAND

A method of filtering measured values (mv) is disclosed, comprising the steps of: based on recorded data (D) including the measured values (mv) parametrizing a filter (13) by: setting a filtering strength (S) of the filter (13) to an initial filtering strength (S1), filtering the measured values (mv) and determining a fractal dimension (d1) of the filtered values (fv1), and iteratively repeating this process by: increasing the filtering strength (S), filtering the measured values (mv) and determining the fractal dimension (dn) of the filtered values (fvn) until a decay of the fractal dimensions (Δdn) determined at the end of each iteration (n) drops below a threshold (Δdref). Next, the filter (13) is put into operation based on a parametrization corresponding to the filtering strength (Sn) employed in the last iteration (n) and a filtering result (FR) of the measured values (mv) is determined and provided.
