SECURITY ELEMENT FOR DOCUMENTS, PARTICULARLY BANKNOTES, AND METHOD FOR ITS PRODUCTION

A method for providing a security element (1) for documents, particularly banknotes, comprising the steps of: a) providing an at least partially transparent base medium (21); b) depositing on the base medium (21) a metallic layer (31), completely covering at least one background area (23); c) printing on the metallic layer (31) a series of layers of ink (32, 33, 34, 35, 36) arranged on superimposed levels (12, 13, 14, 15, 16) so as to obtain a layered element (1''), the layers of ink (32, 33, 34, 35, 36) comprising: at least one first layer of a first insoluble ink (32), at least one layer of a soluble ink (33, 35), and a layer of a second insoluble ink (36); d) immersing the layered element (1'') in at least one solution so that a chemical action of the at least one solution creates, in the layered element (1''), at least one optically clear hole (4a, 4b, 4c) and at least one dead hole (5a, 5b), so as to obtain a perforated layered element (1'); e) fixing over the perforated layered element (1') at least one upper covering layer (38, 22).
