An electronic device according to one embodiment disclosed in the present document may comprise: an extendable and reducible display; a memory; and a processor operatively connected to the display and the memory. According to the one embodiment, the memory can comprise instructions that allow, during the execution thereof, the processor to: recognize a first writing input received from a user through the reduced display; display, on the reduced display, one or more first strokes corresponding to the received first writing input; change the display into an extended state on the basis of a designated input; display, while the display is extended, a first user interface indicating the last stroke from among the one or more first strokes; recognize, while the display is extended, that a second stroke corresponding to a second writing input is related to the last stroke of the one or more first strokes, if the second writing input is received from the user within the designated distance from the point at which the first user interface is displayed; and connect the second stroke to the last stroke to display the second stroke on the extended display.
