According to the invention, to simplify handling of a multi-membered, movably constructed radial pressing tool, which, when closed, groups multiple matrix elements in a ring to form a drilling matrix and, when open, forms a variable passage gap for a workpiece between two matrix elements, the radial pressing tool, when open, has a number of surface features in the region of the passage gap, and said surface features allow, when the radial pressing tool is pushed onto a workpiece having a collar or bead, creation of a form fit with the collar or bead when the radial pressing tool is in the intended axial working position relative to the workpiece. The radial pressing tool can also comprise a latching device, which is designed to define a latching position which can be overcome in a number of open positions, of which one can be a partially open position in which passage of the workpiece through the passage gap is not possible.
