Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to an optical system with a plurality of sequentially arranged regions (10, 15, 18, 19, 21) with various refractive indices and a perimetral region (12) extending axially between two regions (10, 15) and laterally surrounding a region (18), wherein a perimetral portion (27) of a light beam originating from a light source (5) runs along the perimetral region (12) whereas a central portion (26) does not enter the perimetral region (12). Both portions can therefore run along optical paths that are very different from one another. Two of the regions (18, 21) can be formed by a gas such as air, for example.
