Zusammenfassung:A holding element for a drape for a surgical microscope is provided. The holding element has a holding ring and a recess located in the holding ring for an interface of the surgical microscope. The holding ring has an asymmetrical contour delimiting the recess such that in a condition in which the holding element is fastened to the surgical microscope there is only one possible fastening position of the holding element on the interface of the surgical microscope that corresponds to the contour of the holding ring, in which position an orientation of the holding element relative to the surgical microscope is defined.
