Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a steering column (1) for a motor vehicle, having a steering shaft bearing unit (2) in which a steering shaft (10) is received via a rolling bearing (5), wherein: the steering shaft bearing unit (2) has an inner lateral face (3); wherein between the inner lateral face (3) of the steering shaft bearing unit (2) and the rolling bearing (5) a tolerance compensation element (11) is arranged which comprises an annular main body (13) and at least one compensation element (12) extending in the axial direction of the main body (13) and connected to the main body (13); the at least one compensation element (12) is preloaded resiliently in the radial direction of the tolerance compensation element (11) to bridge, without play, a radial distance between the inner lateral face (3) and the rolling bearing (5).
