ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND BRIGHTNESS ADJUSTMENT METHOD

An electronic device according to various embodiments comprises: a display; an illuminance sensor which generates illuminance information by sensing the illuminance of the area surrounding a touch sensor which receives a touch input of a user and generates touch information; memory which stores brightness data about the relationship between the illuminance of the surrounding area and the brightness of the display; and a processor which is operatively connected to the display, the illuminance sensor, the touch sensor, and the memory. The processor can be set to: confirm the illuminance information from the illuminance sensor; configure the brightness of the display to a first brightness on the basis of the illuminance information and the brightness data; change the brightness of the display to a second brightness on the basis of a user input; acquire event information about an operation in which the brightness of the display changes; reconfigure, on the basis of the event information, the brightness data stored in the memory; and determine the brightness of the display according to a brightness value which is in the reconfigured brightness data and mapped to an illuminance value confirmed from the illuminance sensor.
