Zusammenfassung:	The monitoring device for use in a heterogeneous receptor-ligand assay for detecting presence or amount of an analyte in a liquid comprises- one or more electrical consumers (41; D, T), e.g., a first light source (41);- a power supply unit (50) for supplying said one or more electrical consumers (41; D, T) with electrical energy.The power supply unit (50) comprises an energy receiving unit (51) for receiving energy from an external device (200), such as from a mobile phone. The energy receiving unit (51) can comprise a coil for wireless power transfer by electromagnetic induction. The first light source (41) can in particular be a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser.The heterogeneous receptor-ligand assay device (100) comprises in addition to the monitoring device a carrier (10) held in the carrier holder (10a).
