Zusammenfassung:	Provided are a printing apparatus and a printing method which enable making on the outer peripheral surface of a can body a print that imparts added values such as a three-dimensional effect, glossiness, and mattness thereto, while mitigating reduced definition and reduced productivity of printed images. Also provided is such a can body. This printing apparatus for printing an image on a can body comprises a transfer-onto-blanket means for transferring ink on a plurality of printing plates to a blanket and a transfer-onto-can body means for transferring the ink transferred onto the blanket to the can body to print said image on the can body. As printing plates for printing a predetermined subimage of the image, the plurality of printing plates include a first printing plate for printing a border image corresponding to a portion bordering the predetermined subimage and a second printing plate for printing the vicinity of the border image in the predetermined subimage.
