Zusammenfassung:	A protective helmet with an outer shell for distributing impact forces, with a head support ring for placing on a head of a wearer of the protective helmet, and with an adjustment device for adjusting a circumference of the head support ring in order to adapt the latter to the head of the wearer. The adjustment device is guided through an opening of the outer shell so as to be operated from outside the outer shell. The protective helmet is characterized in that the adjustment device is designed to tension a spring device, during the adjustment of the circumference, in such a way that the tension of the spring device acts to transfer the head support ring to a basic circumference.
