Zusammenfassung:	To provide a heater control device for an air-fuel ratio sensor and a heater control method for an air-fuel ratio sensor capable of executing appropriate heating control at the time of restart from an idling stop.A heater control device for an air-fuel ratio sensor includes an air-fuel ratio sensor (80) attached to an exhaust pipe (19) of an engine (E), a heater (88) that heats a sensor element (87) of the air-fuel ratio sensor (80), and a control unit (100) that performs heating control for the heater (88). As start modes of the engine (E), there are two types of normal start (A) for starting the engine (E) according to start operation of a driver and restart (B) from a temporary stop by idling stop control. The control unit (100) starts constant temperature heating control with elapse of a predetermined time after the start of the engine (E) as a trigger. The predetermined time is set shorter in the case of the restart (B) than in the case of the normal start (A).
