ON-DEMAND, PORTABLE CONVECTION VAPORIZER

On-demand, hand-held vaporizer that operates primarily by convection comprises a vaporizer body comprising an outer housing (114,314,514), a structural housing component (212, 312) contained within the outer housing, a heater (302) housed within the structural housing component, an oven chamber (201, 301, 501) configured to hold vaporizable material (e.g., loose leaf plant material, etc.) to be heated by air heated by the heater, causing the vaporizable material to at least partially vaporize into the heated air, a controller (610) coupled to the heater and configured to cause the heater to heat to a temperature, and a mouthpiece at an end of the vaporizer body, the mouthpiece being configured to deliver the heated air and vaporized material. The vaporizer permits very rapid (e.g., within a few seconds) heating of air drawn through the oven chamber to a predetermined or selectable vaporizing temperature to vaporize the vaporizable material that is held in the oven chamber. The vaporizer provides efficient transfer of air being heated as well as rapid delivery of vaporized material to a user.
