The invention relates to an electrical device (10) having an electrical apparatus (12) and at least one battery compartment (30, 31) in which a battery (32) can be inserted and with which a locking apparatus (60, 61) is associated for locking the battery (32), wherein the locking apparatus (60, 61) has a locking member (65) which is pivotable back and forth about a pivot axis (69) between a locking position and a release position and which has a locking element (124) which, in the locking position, protrudes into the battery compartment (30, 31) and, in the release position, releases the battery compartment (30, 31), the locking member (65) being pre-loaded in the locking position by means of a spring element (108). In order to further develop the electrical device (10) such that the locking device (60, 61) can be cost-effectively produced and mounted, according to the invention the locking member (65) has a first and a second bearing journal (87, 89), which are oriented facing away from each other and coaxially relative to the pivot axis (69), wherein the first bearing journal (87) plunges into a bearing ring (91) which surrounds the first bearing journal (87) in the peripheral direction, and wherein the second bearing journal (89) engages through a first bearing journal receptacle (93), which partially surrounds the second bearing journal (89) in the peripheral direction.
