Zusammenfassung:The invention concerns a method for hardening parts made of nitriding steel, in which a part made of nitriding steel undergoes an initial hardening by austenitisation and quenching, followed by tempering, then a nitriding treatment in two successive steps. The first step is a treatment with low nitriding potential, KN, (less than the nitriding potential for which a combination layer forms on the surface of the steel part) in order to decarburise the steel part at the surface. The second step is a treatment with high nitriding potential, greater than or equal to the nitriding potential for which a combination layer forms on the surface of the steel part. During the second step, the temperature is between 480 and 580°C. The ratio between the high nitriding potential and the low nitriding potential is greater than 10.
