Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for monitoring a lift car (1) by means of at least one optical sensor (3), the at least one optical sensor (3) sensing image data and position data correlating with the image data in a monitoring region of the lift car (1), the image data and position data being transmitted by means of a first data link to an evaluation device situated in the lift car (1). According to the invention, to enable robust monitoring of the monitoring region and to make the monitoring insensitive to any optical effects which may occur at the surfaces of the boundary faces (7a, 7b, 7c), a three-dimensional structure of the monitoring region is at least approximately determined from the transmitted image data and position data in the evaluation device, and at least one virtual boundary face (5) is generated which corresponds at least in some sections with the three-dimensional structure of the monitoring region, wherein the monitoring is only based on image data whose correlating position data lies on a side of the at least one virtual boundary face (5) facing the at least one optical sensor (3).
