Zusammenfassung:	A method for cleaning a surface in a private household with a cleaning robot which is provided with at least one sensor for detecting obstacles and for mapping the surroundings and/or performs a cleaning ride according to a route planned on the basis of sensor signals of the sensor. The cleaning robot has wheels for moving in a direction of travel and a cleaning mechanism for cleaning, the wheels and the cleaning mechanism being driven by at least one motor which is supplied with electrical energy by means of at least one battery of the cleaning robot.
