The invention relates to an electrical cooking appliance (1) comprising a lower electrical heating element (12) associated with a lower cooking plate and an upper electrical heating element (22) associated with an upper cooking plate, said electrical cooking appliance (1) comprising first (13) and second (23) temperature measuring elements. According to the invention, a median plane (P), perpendicular to a longitudinal direction (D) of extension of the plates, divides the lower cooking plate into first and second lower half-plates and the upper cooking plate into first and second upper half-plates and either the first temperature measuring element (13) is arranged on the first lower half-plate and the second temperature measuring element (23) is arranged on the second upper half-plate or the first temperature measuring element (13) is arranged on the second lower half-plate and the second temperature measuring element (23) is arranged on the first upper half-plate, said electrical cooking appliance (1) comprising a first lower electrical switch capable of authorising or interrupting the power supply to the lower electrical heating element (12) and a second upper electrical switch capable of authorising or interrupting the power supply to the upper electrical heating element (22).
