Zusammenfassung:	A method (200) of establishing a shift point for shifting an automatic transmission in a powered vehicle from a first gear ratio to a second gear ratio, the transmission having a controller, comprising receiving (210) torque data from a data bus electrically coupled to the controller, converting (220) the torque data to power data, and calculating (250) a gear step value based on the first gear ratio and the second gear ratio. The method further comprises determining (320) a first speed value (SB) based on the power data, comparing (340) the first speed value (SB) to a full load governing speed of an engine, and setting (370) the shift point at a lower speed than the full load governing speed if the first speed value (SB) is greater than or equal to the full load governing speed as a result of the comparison.
