METHOD FOR BURNING SLUDGE

The invention relates to a system for burning material, e.g. sludge, in particular sewage sludge, comprising: a combustion apparatus, which has a combustion chamber; and a feeding device, characterized in that the feeding device is a pneumatic (sludge plug) conveying and feeding device, which has an eccentric screw pump and a pneumatic conveying line, the eccentric screw pump comprising: a stator; a rotor, which rotates in the stator; a suction housing, which is connected to the stator and has a filling opening; and an outlet opening, the pneumatic conveying line being connected to the outlet opening of the eccentric screw pump and the material to be conveyed being able to be pressed as a compacted material strand into the conveying line by means of the eccentric screw pump, a pressure medium feed being connected to the conveying line by means of at least one valve, by means of which pressure medium feed pressure pulses can be injected into the conveying line at time intervals, it being possible, by means of the pressure pulses, to separate material plugs or sludge plugs of limited length from the compressed material strand and to transport said material plugs or sludge plugs through the conveying line, and the conveying line being connected to the combustion chamber of the combustion apparatus in order to feed the combustion apparatus with the material plugs or sludge plugs.
