CUTTING ASSEMBLY FOR A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT HAVING A DRIVE ASSEMBLY

A cutting assembly for a surgical instrument having a drive assembly comprises a tube assembly comprising a longitudinal axis defined between a distal end opposite a proximal end, and a cutting window of the tube assembly near the distal end and adapted to be applied to a surgical site of a patient. The cutting window of the tube assembly comprises a distal boundary opposite a proximal boundary. The tube assembly further comprises an outer tube comprising an outer cutting window within a distal region of the outer tube, an inner tube coaxially disposed within and rotatable relative to the outer tube with the drive assembly with a portion of the inner tube distal to the proximal boundary of the cutting window of the tube assembly defining a distal region of the inner tube, the inner tube comprising an inner cutting edge within the distal region of the inner tube with the inner cutting edge and the outer cutting window defining the cutting window of the tube assembly, and a projection within a lumen of the inner tube with at least a portion of the projection disposed within the distal region of the inner tube with the projection adapted to reduce clogging of the tube assembly.
