A train control system 1 includes: a train control apparatus 105 that is mounted on a train 101, and is configured to be able to communicate with a ground apparatus 103 located outside the train, and the train control apparatus 105 senses presence of an obstacle present at least around the train 101, and acquires first obstacle information related to the obstacle; manages the first obstacle information in a first format, and also manages second obstacle information related to the obstacle that is acquired from the ground apparatus 103, and is in a second format with an information amount smaller than the first format; and converts the second obstacle information in the second format into the first format, and senses the obstacle on a basis of the converted second obstacle information, and the first obstacle information.
