COMMUNICATION METHOD AND DEVICE

This application provides a communication method and apparatus, and relates to the communication field, so that an AS of a terminal can determine a specific quantity of members around the terminal, and can normally execute a HARQ mechanism for groupcast. The method includes: A V2X layer of a first terminal sends a first message, where the first message includes an identifier of a group, and the first terminal corresponds to a first member in the group; the V2X layer of the first terminal receives a response message of the first message, and determines a quantity of one or more reachable members in the group based on the response message; and the V2X layer of the first terminal sends the quantity of the one or more reachable members to an AS of the first terminal.
