Zusammenfassung:The subject matter of the invention is a lock (1) for a motor vehicle, in particular a side door lock (1), having a locking mechanism (7), a release lever chain (8) with a release lever (6) and an actuating lever (2), wherein the actuating lever (2) can be coupled to the release lever (6) by means of a coupling lever (3), and having a control lever (4) for controlling the coupling lever (3), wherein the control lever (4) interacts with an inertia element (5) in such a manner that a movement of the control lever (4) can be prevented by means of the inertia element (5) depending on a limit speed of the actuating lever (2), and wherein the transmission ratio between control lever (4) and inertia element (5) is designed to be virtually constant or to increase over the entire actuation distance.
