BALL BEARING AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING SAME

The invention relates to a ball bearing (1), comprising an inner ring (2), an outer ring (3) and a cage (13), wherein: a set of balls (4) is arranged between the inner ring (2) and the outer ring (3); the balls (4) have a diameter (D); and each of the two rings (2, 3) has a raceway (5, 6) for the balls (4) to run on, said raceway having the shape of a circular arc segment in a radial section. According to the invention, in order to increase the load-bearing capacity of the bearing, the raceway (6) of one of the two rings (3) extends, on one of the two sides (7) of the ring (3), in the shape of a circular arc segment beyond a radially highest point (P1), until in the axial direction (a) of the ball bearing (1) there is an undercut (8) between the boundary circle diameter (DH) of the balls (4) and the radially lowest point (P2) of the raceway (6), the undercut (8) being, in the radial direction (r) of the ball bearing (1), at least 1.5% of the diameter (D) of the balls (4) and at most 5% of the diameter (D) of the balls (4). The invention further relates to a method for assembling a bearing of this type.
