COMMUNICATION INTERFACE FOR AN EXTERNAL INFLATABLE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY STRUCTURE EQUIPPING A VEHICLE, ASSOCIATED INFLATABLE STRUCTURE-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL AND SAFETY MODULE

The invention relates to the communication interface (13) between (i) a pedestrian safety module (1) equipping a vehicle (10) and including an external inflatable structure, the inflation of which can be selectively controlled so as to surround and hold a pedestrian colliding with said vehicle (10); and (ii) a system for processing information from sensors and cameras equipping said vehicle (10), said interface (13) comprising means for receiving the following from said processing system (3): (i) a control signal for triggering said inflatable structure in response to the identification of a risk of collision with a pedestrian and (ii) characteristic information of said pedestrian and their kinematics relative to said vehicle (10). This received characteristic information comprises morphological characterisation information resulting from the processing of images captured by one or more sensors, said morphological characterisation information being processed by the pedestrian safety module in order to compute a strategy for selectively controlling the inflation of the inflatable structure.
