Zusammenfassung: | A communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT) is provided. A method includes transmitting a random access preamble to a base station; receiving a random access response, RAR, MAC PDU including a plurality of medium access control, MAC, sub-packet data units, subPDUs, from the base station; identifying whether a first MAC subPDU includes a random access preamble identifier, RAPID, which corresponds to the transmitted random access preamble; and in case that the RAPID in the first MAC subPDU does not corresponds to the RAPID of the transmitted random access preamble, identifying whether the RAPID in the first MAC subPDU corresponds to one of RAPIDs for SI request; and identifying a presence of a MAC RAR in the first MAC subPDU based on whether the RAPID in the first MAC subPDU corresponds to one of the RAPIDs for SI request or not. |
