Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a system for providing mechanical perturbations to a biological sample, comprising an apparatus which comprises:- first (∑t) and second (∑b) surfaces arranged opposite to each other to define between them a confining chamber with a confinement height (h), to confine a biological sample, wherein the first (∑t) and second (∑b) surfaces are relatively movable with each other according to an approaching/distancing direction; and- spacing means comprising:- measuring means configured and arranged to measure at least part of the confinement height (h);- driving means operatively connected to the first (∑t) or second (∑b) surfaces to move the same according to the approaching/distancing direction; and- control means operatively connected to the measuring means and to the driving means, to control the driving means based on the measurements obtained with the measuring means, to vary the confinement height (h).
