Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for testing the effectiveness of a catalytic converter (3) in an exhaust line (1) of a combustion engine (2), comprising: - a step of running the combustion engine (2) until its temperature (T_mth) reaches a minimum temperature threshold, - a step of checking the operation of the oxygen sensors (6, 7), and - in the event that the oxygen sensors are operating correctly, said method further comprises: - a step of running the combustion engine (2) at a high speed, and - a step of commanding a return to a low-idle speed, - a step of measuring the time it takes for a voltage (V_av) of the downstream sensor (7) to recover to a value above a predetermined voltage threshold, - a step of determining a condition of the catalytic converter (3) on the basis of the measured time taken for the voltage to recover.
