Zusammenfassung:	Embodiments of this application provide a packet transmission method and apparatus, relate to the communications field, and can improve security of communication between a diagnostic apparatus and a device in a vehicle. The method includes: encrypting a first packet by using a first key, to obtain a first encrypted packet; generating a first verification code based on the first encrypted packet and a fresh value that is used to indicate information related to time validity of the first encrypted packet; and sending the first encrypted packet, the fresh value, and the first verification code to an electronic control unit in a vehicle.
