The wiper movement mechanism (48) has a rack (32) that is supported by the wiper carriage (33) so as to be movable in a vertical direction, a wiper driving motor (45) that is provided in the support frame (40), a rack driving gear (47) that transmits a driving force of the wiper driving motor (45) to the rack, a sliding member (36) that is rotatably supported by the wiper carriage (33) and abuts with the support frame, and a gear pitch retention member (50) that keeps a vertical positional relationship between the rack (32) and the rack driving gear (47) constant when the wiper carriage (33) reciprocates.
