Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a slag stopper (1) for closing a tap hole (2) of a metallurgical vessel (3) for separating a liquid metal and a slag, wherein the slag stopper (1) has an arm (4) which can be pivoted about an axis (a) and on one end of which a closure body (5) for closing the tap hole (2) of the metallurgical vessel (3) is arranged, and wherein the arm (4) is connected to a drive (6) which can cause a pivoting movement about the axis (a). In order to ensure operation that is low-maintenance and disruption-insensitive for a slag stopper of this type, the invention proposes that the drive (6) comprises: a shaft (7), which is fixed to the arm (4); a gear (8) which is connected for conjoint rotation to the shaft (7); a linear actuator (9), which can cause a linear displacement movement (bi, b2) of at least one actuator component (10, 11), wherein the at least one actuator component (10, 11) has a rack (12, 13), which meshes with the gear (8).
