During the method, a probe (18) is arranged within the case (32) adjacent the first rotor blade (28). A magnetic characteristic of the first rotor blade (28) is measured using the probe (18). Presence of internal corrosion within the first rotor blade (28) is determined based on the measured magnetic characteristic.
