Zusammenfassung:Invention relates to method of increasing load in a four stoke internal combustion engine comprising operating the engine in a low load range mode comprising introducing the gaseous fuel (24) and intake air into a combustion chamber (28) of a cylinder (10) of the engine during the intake stroke, recirculating exhaust gas into the combustion chamber of the cylinder (10) and introducing liquid fuel (26) into the combustion chamber of the cylinder, compressing the charge comprising the air, the gaseous fuel, the liquid fuel and the recirculated exhaust gas in the combustion chamber (28), igniting the charge by compression ignition in the combustion chamber and when at least one variable indicative of engine's load exceeds a predetermined transition level of the variable, increasing the load of the engine into a high load range mode comprising introducing the gaseous fuel and the intake air into a combustion chamber (28) of a cylinder (10) of the engine during an intake stroke, and introducing a first portion of liquid fuel (26) into the combustion chamber (28) of the cylinder, compressing the charge comprising the air, the gaseous fuel and the liquid fuel in the combustion chamber, and injecting a second portion of liquid fuel (26) into the combustion chamber (28) for initiating reactivity controlled compression ignition.
