HEAT EXCHANGER WITH HEAT EXCHANGE TUBES MOVABLE BETWEEN ALIGNED AND NON-ALIGNED POSITIONS

A heat exchanger (108) includes a plurality of heat exchange tubes (146) arranged into a first row of tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C) and a second row of tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C). A fixed mount (182, 282) fixedly positions the first row of tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C), and a movable mount (190, 290) makes the second row of tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C) movable between an aligned position in which tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C) in the second row are aligned with tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C) in the first row, creating a linear flow path (196) for the fluid (142, 144) through the tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C), and a non-aligned position in which tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C) in the second row are not aligned with heat tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C) in the first row, creating a curvilinear flow path (198) for the fluid (142, 144) through the plurality of tubes (180, 180A, 180B, 180C). Heat is exchanged between the first fluid (142) and a second fluid (144) passing through the plurality of heat exchange tubes (146). The heat exchanger (108) may be employed as an HRSG (148) in a combined cycle plant (100), among other applications.
