WORK MACHINE AND METHOD OF OPERATING SUCH

A work machine (100) is disclosed. The work machine (100) comprising: a frame structure (110); a work implement (120) coupled to the frame structure (110) that includes at least one ground engagement tool (130), wherein the at least one ground engagement tool (130) is configured for movement in response to interaction with an underlying surface in use of the work machine (100); and a control system (602) coupled to the frame structure (110) that includes a sensor (302) mounted to the at least one ground engagement tool (130) and a controller (604) communicatively coupled to the sensor (302), wherein the sensor (302) is configured to provide sensor input and the controller (604) includes memory (606) having instructions stored therein that are executable by a processor (608) to cause the processor (608) to receive the sensor input from the sensor (302) and to determine that the at least one ground engagement tool (130) is in contact with the ground in response to receipt of sensor input provided by the sensor (302) that is indicative of a characteristic of movement of the at least one ground engagement tool (130) in use of the work machine (100). Furthermore, a method of operating a work machine (100) is disclosed.
