Zusammenfassung:	Provided are: a rubber composition for a tire tread which, when incorporated in a tire, provides excellent rolling performance and wear resistance and high elongation at break; and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition for a tire tread. This rubber composition for a tire tread contains: a conjugated diene rubber containing 10% by mass or more of a specific conjugated diene rubber produced by a conjugated diene rubber production method including a specific step and 15% by mass or more of natural rubber; silica; and a silane coupling agent. The silica content is 30 parts by mass or more relative to 100 parts by mass of the conjugated diene rubber. The silane coupling agent content is 3 to 30% by mass relative to the silica content.
