Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a process for preparing polycarbodiimides, comprising the steps: (i) preparing a reaction mixture that comprises a diisocyanate and a catalyst, and (ii) polymerizing the diisocyanate to polycarbodiimide in a stirred tank by heating the reaction mixture prepared in (i) to a temperature in the range of 20 to 250°C at a pressure in the range of 20 to 800 mbar, the reaction mixture being stirred during polymerization by means of a stirrer, characterized in that stirring results in the reaction mixture being conveyed axially to the axis of rotation of stirring.
